Croft Farm is ideally located to explore some of the finest towns and villages located on or close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast. You will find something for everyone, from traditional seaside fun on Southwold Pier, to the chic boutiques and cafes of Aldeburgh High Street or a trip back in time at Orford Castle. These are just some of the places you can explore.

Aldeburgh is world-renowned thanks to its connection with Benjamin Britten, the founder of the Aldeburgh Festival, which takes place in June every year. Pastel-coloured 19th Century holiday villas line the promenade and to the east, the pebble beach with fisherman’s huts selling the daily catch.

The small village of Thorpeness is dominated by the Mere, which is popular all year round and bears witness to the village’s fantastical past. In 1910 Stuart Ogilvie bought the hamlet and set to transform it into a private fantasy holiday village. Today the village is just how Ogilvie envisaged it with pretty mock Tudor houses and the fairy-tale ‘House in the Clouds’

With its sandy beach, hut-lined promenade and traditional pier, Southwold offers a seaside experience not to be missed during your stay at Croft Farm. Situated just off the A12, around 20 minutes north, Southwold is also a thriving market town and home to the Adnams brewery.

The high street in Saxmundham


An historic Market Town just 10 minutes from Croft Farm. It has a busy high street, Tesco and Waitrose supermarkets and is home to our local train station. On Wednesdays there is a small traditional market, with a variety of food and other stalls.
