Explore the Suffolk Coast and Countryside

From woodland trails to coastal villages, there’s a lifetime of discovery right on our doorstep.

Scenic walking and cycling trails

Miles of paths wind through woodlands and open countryside in this historic area of outstanding beauty.

The tranquil village of Snape is a great base for walkers and cyclists, with the Suffolk Coastal Cycle Route passing nearby, with the Tour de France and Tour of Britain passing through the village of the last few years. Within Tunstall and Rendlesham Forest there are mountain biking trails on offer, with bomb craters and sand pits providing some challenging terrain.

Walking trails including the Sailor’s Path leading you to Aldeburgh along the river to the coast, and the Sandling Walk that passes through Croft Farm and runs from Ipswich to Southwold. We have created a number of guides recommending local walking routes ranging from 15 minutes to 15 miles, most directly from Croft Farm or Snape Village.

Suffolk Heritage

Heritage Sites - A Coast Shaped by Time

From Roman traders and Anglo-Saxon kings to Viking raiders, medieval castles and Cold War defences, the Suffolk Heritage Coast is a landscape shaped by more than 2,000 years of history.

Just minutes from Croft Farm Snape lie some of England’s most remarkable heritage sites — the royal burial mounds of Sutton Hoo, the great fortress walls of Framlingham Castle, the mysterious keep at Orford, and the haunting remains of Dunwich, a once-great medieval city lost to the sea.

This ever-changing coastline has always stood on the edge - a place of power, invasion, trade and defence. Storms have reshaped it, wars have fortified it, and time has softened it into the peaceful, open landscape you see today.

Stay with us and explore a coastline where every path tells a story, from ancient kingdoms to the modern world.

Pub in suffolk

Good Food, Local Pubs & Suffolk Favourites

The Suffolk coast is as well known for its food and drink as it is for its landscape — from traditional village pubs to nationally recognised dining destinations.

Just minutes from Croft Farm Snape you’ll find welcoming local favourites including The Golden Key, The Crown, and The Plough and Sail — all are dog friendly and offer relaxed atmospheres, seasonal menus and the kind of warm hospitality that defines rural Suffolk.

For something truly special, and one of our favourites, The Unruly Pig in nearby Bromeswell is consistently ranked among the best gastro pubs in the UK, celebrated for its bold flavours, exceptional cooking and laid-back charm. Meanwhile, another of our favourites, The Suffolk in Aldeburgh has recently received outstanding national praise in The Times, is quickly becoming one of the region’s standout dining experiences.

Whether you’re after a post-walk pint, a family-friendly supper, or an unforgettable evening meal, you’ll find some of Suffolk’s finest food and drink within easy reach.
